“IN TUNE WITH THE FOREST”- Luxury Residence @ Kandy

“In tune with the forest” is a home designed to be a peaceful escape focused on the natural realm within the conditions of an established neighborhood. Residence is located next to a forest in a terrain. It is heavily landscaped. The “L” shape house consists with an external courtyard that mediates between the opportunities of a site that has its aspect and view on opposing edges. The “L” plan is the intuitive manifestation of this challenge, with the long part of the house, an open type, light-filled pavilion offering a transparent and connected to the forest and external courtyard.

Gigantic long decks at entrance floor level and lower ground levels are placed at the edge of the forest under the opacity of the large trees, facing the views that unfold splendidly at its feet.

A group of materials sensitive to regional context and suitable for both interior and exterior conditions was selected. Timber, stone, wood, steel and plaster carry throughout the residence and slide past panes of glass, extending spatial readings and minimizing the transition at the building envelope. Carefully curated art, both inside and out, adds another layer of intensity to the experience of site and structure.
